Built into the Google Chrome browser, this minimalist game was designed to appear when you're disconnected from the internet. Yet, despite its humble beginnings, it has evolved into a pop-culture symbol of digital downtime, creativity, and persistence.
The dino game (https://dinogamerun.io/) first appeared in September 2014 as an Easter egg in Chrome. Created by Google Chrome's UX team, the game features a small, pixelated Tyrannosaurus rex running through a desert landscape. The developers affectionately nicknamed the game "Project Bolan," a reference to Marc Bolan, the lead singer of the 1970s band T. Rex.

The idea was to entertain users during moments of lost connectivity. Rather than present an error message and a blank screen, Google offered a way to pass the time — something fun and simple that anyone could play with just one button.
