Marvel Rivals Season 3 has arrived, and leading the charge is none other than Jean Grey, empowered by the Phoenix Force. This fan-favorite X-Men member has entered the fray as a new duelist, and while the duelist role is already saturated, her unique mechanics make her a standout addition to the roster.

Phoenix is a mobile, hitscan-based hero with a powerful stacking mechanic. Her primary fire damages enemies instantly and applies "Spark" stacks—marked by flame icons—that detonate at three stacks, dealing area damage and gradually healing her. Her alternate fire unleashes a burst of flames, briefly stunning enemies and slowing others, while also applying Spark stacks.

Her first ability is a swift dash that leaves an illusion behind, which explodes and adds Spark to enemies caught in the blast. The second ability lets her fly for a limited time, boosting speed and regenerating ammo—a skill perfect for repositioning or flanking enemies.

Her ultimate ability, a literal Phoenix dive, targets an area to cause massive AoE damage, destroy deployables (like Namor's squid or Rocket's beacon), and most importantly, strip all bonus health from affected enemies. This makes her an excellent counter against heroes like Venom, Luna Snow, or Mantis who rely on overhealth for survival.

Beyond Phoenix, players can expect improvements to cosmetics, including new chroma variants, animated accessories that appear during knockouts, and a much-requested quality-of-life update: MVP animations are now freely swappable between skins.

While Season 3 already offers plenty of exciting content, fans of Blade will need to hold on just a little longer—he's confirmed to arrive in Season 3.5 next month. Until then, mastering Phoenix might just be the spark you need to reignite your love for the game.
